Q: Where can I get hold of a copy of the magazine?
At present, we have distributed all 500 copies of our first edition. We will keep the website updated on the inventories should there be further distribution in the future.
Q: I am interested in being a contributor for the zine, will I get paid?
No, all our publications are not for profit, and thus the contributions are voluntary and not paid job assignments.
Q: I am interested in sharing a professional skill set of mine (e.g. conduct a writing workshop), what will the arrangement be like?
We welcome participants to contribute by sharing a professional skillset that you think would benefit the group. As KAMPUNGMAKERS is a non-profit initiative, thus there will be no pay but a token fee from the funds we apply for.
Q: Can I be a contributor if I do not stay in the neighbourhood featured or if I am not Singaporean?
Yes! We welcome all voices and perspectives from all over the island.
Q: What is the commitment like to be a contributor?
Each edition takes three months to produce, in which there are workshops or other relevant sessions conducted fortnightly, either during after work hours or over the weekends.
Q: What are the workshops about?
The workshops are an integral part of the research and writing process for our publication and are designed according to the theme of the issue. All contributors’ participation is integral in ensuring that we adhere to the collaborative model that our platform is created for.
Q: I think my project will require some budget, can I claim my project expenditure?
Yes, depending on the amount of your expenditure. This is subject to case by case basis depending on the funds we obtain for the respective edition.
Q: I have a story to tell but I can't write or take photos, can I still be a contributor?
Yes. We believe that everyone has a story to tell. KAMPUNGMAKERS is a collaborative platform. We welcome people of different skillsets to come on board so that all contributors have a pool of resources that they could utilise in creating their piece. You could collaborate with a contributor who the skills that you think you lack, and/or vice versa.
Q: I prefer to work alone. Can I still be a contributor?
Yes. Though we highly encourage collaboration amongst contributors in line with the KAMPUNG spirit.
